A TV drama is usually fictional and will fall under many different genres for example a TV drama could be a crime drama, a sci-fi or many others a example of a crime drama would be "The mentalist"
In a TV drama there are several things that build it up these are;
1) Signification
2) Connotation
3) Representation
Signification is if you looked at some thing you would know what it is eg. if you where in India and you seen the golden "M" you would know that there was a MC Donald's this is signification.
Connotation is what some one would make of a signification for example some people might see the golden "M" and think yum food and some people would think eww greasy fat food. everyone has a connotation and it is different as it is opinion.
Representation is how dramas put across people most dramas usually are not stereotypical but in comedy's all characters are stereotypical eg a old woman being nosey and wearing long skirts and a blouse.
